Donate your wedding dress for charity
The month of June has long been considered the official start of “wedding season,” but for one local shop, June is an opportunity to make room in your closet while helping someone in need.
During the month of June, Alterations by Heather in St. Helens is hosting a dress drive for Brides for a Cause, which collects and resells wedding dresses.
Brides for a Cause is more than a bridal store — it’s a bridal store to raise funds for charity. Brides for a Cause is exclusively partnered with Wish Upon A Wedding, a non-profit organization dedicated to granting weddings and vow renewals for couples facing serious illness or a life-altering circumstance.
Brides for a Cause, a registered commercial fundraiser, will sell the dress and send 50 percent of the proceeds to the charity.
Anyone in the Columbia County area can donate a wedding dress to the cause by dropping it off at Alterations by Heather through June 30. Donations are tax deductible and donation forms and receipts will be available at the store.
